Coin competitions

An organization can give its competition an economic stake with three amounts, all optional, set at creation:

AmountWho paysWho receivesWhen
Entry feeEach participantThe organization (90%, 10% platform commission)When confirming participation
DepositEach participantNobody: held in escrowOn confirmation, returned at the end
RewardThe organizationThe winnerAt closing
The reward is committed at creation

The reward amount is debited from the organization's treasury the moment the competition is created, and held in escrow. It is refunded if the competition is deleted without a winner.

Nobody pays without agreeing to it

A team's coins only move on an action by the team:

  • Registering yourself for a paid competition immediately debits the fee and the deposit (the price is shown before you confirm).
  • Being added by the organizer debits nothing: it is an invitation. The team finds it on its Competitions page, with the cost broken down, and chooses Confirm and pay or Decline.
  • The organizer cannot confirm a team's presence in its place while fees remain unpaid.

The schedule waits until everyone has paid

On a paid competition, the draw is blocked as long as a registered participant has not paid their fees. The message lists the latecomers; the organizer can wait for their confirmation or remove them before generating the schedule. On the Participants page, the "Entry fees unpaid" mention flags who is blocking.

The deposit: returned, except on withdrawal

The deposit guarantees that teams see it through:

  • When the competition closes, each participant gets their deposit back in full, the winner like everyone else.
  • On unregistering (before the draw) or if the competition is deleted, it is also returned.
  • On withdrawal, it is lost: it is paid to the organization as compensation.
Entry fee refunds

A participant who unregisters before the draw gets back 100% of their entry fee (the organization and the platform each return their share). After the draw, unregistering is no longer possible.
