Transfers
A transfer recruits a player who is already under contract at another club. It combines an agreement between the two clubs (with a fee) and a new contract for the player.
| Simple contract | Transfer | |
|---|---|---|
| Targeted player | Free (no contract) | Under contract elsewhere |
| Fee | — | Yes, paid to the selling club |
| Who approves | Club + player | Selling club then player |
How a transfer works
- Everyone accepts
- The club refuses
- The player refuses
- The offer is withdrawn
- Not enough funds
- Buying club creates a Transfer offer: fee + terms of the new contract (bonus, salary, duration, clause). Status Awaiting the selling club.
- Selling club (Transfers / Mercato — offers received tab): Accept the fee or Decline. By accepting, the offer moves to Awaiting the player. Note: the selling club does not see the player's personal terms ("confidential terms").
- Player (My transfers): "[club] wants to recruit you — Both clubs have agreed (fee in coins)." → Accept the transfer or Stay. By accepting: the fee and the bonus are paid, the old contract becomes Transferred, the new contract becomes Active.
As long as the player has not accepted, no coin moves — neither the fee, nor the bonus. The selling club only collects the fee at the moment the transfer goes through.
A concrete example
Let's say Mbappé plays for PSG and Real Madrid wants to recruit him. Real has 10,000 coins in its treasury.
-
Real makes an offer. Pérez (Real's captain) sends an offer:
- Fee: 3,000 coins for PSG
- New contract for Mbappé: signing bonus 500, salary 200/week, duration 52 weeks, release clause 8,000
→ Status Awaiting the selling club. PSG is notified.
-
PSG decides. Al-Khelaïfi (PSG's captain) sees "Real Madrid offers 3,000 coins" — and nothing else: Mbappé's salary and bonus stay hidden from him. He accepts the fee → status Awaiting the player. Mbappé is notified.
-
Mbappé decides. He sees all the terms (200/week, 500 bonus…). He accepts. Everything happens at once:
- 3,000 Real → PSG (fee)
- 500 Real → Mbappé (bonus)
- Real's treasury goes from 10,000 to 6,500
- Mbappé's old contract at PSG becomes Transferred
- Mbappé leaves PSG's squad and joins Real's (as a player)
- His new 52-week contract becomes Active
What if it doesn't go through?
- PSG declines the fee → offer Declined by the club. Mbappé never even saw the offer, no coin moved.
- Mbappé declines even though PSG said yes → offer Declined by the player. Despite PSG's agreement, nothing happens: the player has the final say.
- Real changes its mind → it Withdraws its offer (as long as it is pending).
- Real no longer has the funds at the moment of Mbappé's "yes" (it spent them in the meantime) → the transfer fails and everything is cancelled: Mbappé's contract intact, no coin debited.
- Barça had also made an offer on Mbappé: as soon as the transfer to Real goes through, Barça's offer becomes Cancelled (contract ended).
Withdrawing an offer
The buying club can Withdraw its offer while it is pending (status Withdrawn).
Transfer offer statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Awaiting the selling club | Offer sent |
| Awaiting the player | Seller accepted |
| Transfer completed | Player accepted |
| Declined by the club | Seller declined |
| Declined by the player | Player declined |
| Withdrawn | Buyer withdrew |
| Cancelled (contract ended) | The player's contract ended in the meantime |
Get released to sign
If a player tries to sign/transfer while already having an active contract, the "Get released to sign" panel opens: "To sign with this club, you can only have one active contract. Get released first."
Options for each blocking contract:
- Pay the release clause (amount in coins) (if a clause exists), or
- Leave the team (terminates the contract).
Once free ("You are free. You can sign the contract.") → Sign with this club.
When a contract ends (expiration, break, buyout…), the transfer offers pending on that player become Cancelled.
